Turkish EFL Students' Perceptions of ELF and its Pedagogical Implications

چکیده
English has established itself as a lingua franca for people from variety of linguistic and cultural origins in today's more globalized world. As result, English's current position is likely to have an effect on both EFL students' perceptions the language its pedagogy. The purpose this study was elicit perspectives (ELF) - defined common medium communication persons with varied instructional implications. To do this, data were gathered through use five-point Likert-scale questionnaire devised by researcher. survey sampled 570 Turkish students enrolled foundation university's preparatory program Istanbul province. findings indicated that unsure not just about standing franca, but also consequences. In other words, they cautious endorse such novel concept. light these significant findings, implications teaching/learning scenarios discussed, well ideas additional research.
